Lucas is a one year old Australian Shepherd/Collie puppy weighing in around 65 pounds. Lucas's previous owners dropped him off to be euthanized after two bite incidents. The first time, the owner was trying to break up a dog fight and got bit in the process (oh boy have us staff all been there before). The second time, Lucas was sleeping by the front door when the owner's dad came in and startled him and he bit his leg. Working in rescue, we see a LOT of bites. We hear ALL the stories from the bad to the god awful. It sounds like Lucas reacted somewhat predictably in both of these situations and weren't really his fault. Yet because they happened, we have to label him for a bite history. Lucas IS dog friendly! He IS potty trained! And most importantly, he IS a puppy! He's got lots and lots of energy and needs a family to teach him manners and love him unconditionally. He would probably do best in a home without children for now atleast until his energy and training even out.
