Sweet Elmo lost his home and family when they gave him up because he had heartworm disease. They couldn't afford the treatment, and even though someone offered to pay for it, and even though they'd had Elmo since he was a puppy, they said no, they didn't want him anymore and told us that he had been chained up in the back yard his whole life. Elmo was devastated and confused with no idea what he had done wrong. He went to foster care and got treated for the heartworm disease. His foster mom brought back his smile and has taught him what life is like off the chain and in a home. Elmo is 7 years old and now fully vetted. He's okay with other dogs on the leash but has a humping problem that causes him to have issues with most other dogs. He loves the outdoors and is just such a good boy. Cars are pretty scary for him though. His previous foster said "Elmo seems to be potty trained by going to the door to ask to go out and sleeps through the night. He waits outside the door until he is told to come in, then sits nicely to have his paws cleaned. Walks great on a leash with other dogs and listens very well. Just a laid back, gentleman kinda guy. Can't say enough good things about guy!"
