Meet Sasha! This sweet bean came to us from the emergency hospital where she was fighting for her life. She had been at a local shelter and was spayed earlier that day, however there were complications so the vets removed her spleen as well. Unfortunately, she continued to decline and had to be transferred to the ER where the shelter asked for rescue assistance as they didn't have the funds to continue treating her. After nearly 3 weeks of IV fluids and blood transfusions, Sasha made a miraculous recovery and was diagnosed with a very rare parasite called Babesia. Ever since then, Sasha has been perfectly healthy and loving life. It is very unlikely that she will require another hospitalization again in her life, but adopters should be aware that the potential is there. She doesn't take any meds but does eat special food as the parasite made her intestinal track extremely sensitive and she cannot have anything but her own food (no table scraps or treats). Sasha loves pups of all sizes and is so silly and wiggly. She is a small girl, around 30 lbs, and would love to lay on your lap and give you kisses. In a home, she does best in a crate when people are over because she can be scared of strangers. She does very well in her crate and is potty trained as well!
