She and her best bud Piper came into rescue after their owner died and they ended up, in poor health, in a rural high-kill shelter with little chance for adoption. Fast forward to today, she's a little spitfire, keeping her foster's backyard clear of chipmunks and bunnies, bossing poor Piper around, and pretty much running the household. She has an impeccable sense of time -- knowing when her dinner is late and when her foster dad is due home from work. With 4" legs, she can't jump onto furniture, but she knows EXACTLY how to get her foster momma to lift her up! She is always up for a walkie or a car ride -- super curious about everything in the world. She does expect bed privileges and likes to sleep under the covers on a cool night. Like many small dogs, Molly is a bit wary of new people and takes some time to warm up. But she's super food motivated and is happy to take a "cookie" from anyone. She needs managed introductions to new dogs but has been successfully temp fostered with another pack (small dogs) and is a welcome dinner guest at another home with a dog (big dog). Molly seems to have a sweet spot for cats? At one adoption venue that was also displaying rescue cats for adoption, Molly cried until her foster picked her up and held her up to see the cats (no cats were stressed!) and at a more recent adoption venue, Molly met and sniffed and sought out the shop cat. Molly has moderate exercise needs -- a short walk twice a day keeps her trim and her mind engaged. Lots of stairs are going to be an issue for her but she's small enough to be carried quite easily (a few steps aren't an issue). She can move pretty fast on a flat surface though! Molly was nearly bald when she came into rescue, but once her hair grew back and the itching was stopped, she really blossomed into this silly little clown. She is on a limited diet due to allergies but she really loves her (non-prescription) kibble! Managing these allergies is pretty simple -- you need to be careful about people food (carrots yes, corn chips no), bathe her every week or two with a readily available medicated shampoo, and keep up with her periodic allergy shots (as little as 3 or 4 times a year). Molly would fit into a range of households. She could be integrated into a pack of mellow dogs, would likely do well in a house with dog-aware cats, and is fine with older children (say 10 and up). Her house manners are quite good -- the foster has NOT had to roll up the oriental carpets! During the day, she and is confined to a large airy laundry room with doggie TV (glass door to the outdoors) and mostly nap. They are fine for a typical 9-hour workday. She doesn't chew on things but does like to carry around shoes and leave them in random places. The adoption fee for this dog is 375.00 for her. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. Please contact your HT rep to learn about exclusive low-cost spay/neuter options made available only to HT adopters!
