How could you not love this face? Meet Leila, a two-year-old Jindo from South Korea. Despite her rough start as a dog in the South Korean meat market, she has adjusted to home life like a champ! She loves to play rope tug-of-war with any willing participant, chase after tennis balls with seemingly endless energy, and chew on filled bones with ridiculous determination. But her favorite activity by far is playing with her stuffed toys, especially ones that make noise - though they end up quiet pretty fast since she's an excellent squeaker extractor! (Amazingly, that desire-to-chew behavior doesn't carry over into chewing things like pillows shoes, or TV remotes!) Don't be fooled by all this high-energy talk though, she's just as happy to nap on the floor next to her humans or sit near the window hoping to catch sight of a squirrel. Leila is housetrained, walks well on a leash, and can be left alone in the house for several hours without worry. She is calm around other people both inside and outside of home, especially once they give her some love and attention and start to scratch her head - her weakness. When it comes to other dogs, she is perfectly fine being near them, like walking past them on walks or seeing them through a window. However, like some people, she likes her personal space and doesn't want other dogs to get in her face, so she would do best as the only dog in the house. If you spent the majority of your life on a meat farm with a ton of other dogs, I think you'd feel the same way too! Since she arrived last month, she's blossomed and come out of her shell, even wagging her tail and greeting her humans with hugs and kisses when they come home. Once you meet her, we're sure you'll fall in love with her and want to make her part of your family If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to htar.lauren@gmail.com PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ Cassie is a very sweet, smart girl who is finishing up her recovery from nursing a litter of 8 puppies, and is ready to find her own forever home.
