It was quiet in the cat room late this afternoon. I let Garfield out of his kennel and sat on the floor with him. He rubbed on my shoes, my hands, my legs. Over and over. I petted his head, his back, his tail. Over and over. We went out on the catio. With surprising grace, he jumped into my lap! He laid down. I put my hand on his back. We stayed like that for 20 minutes. I gazed at him. With his damaged ear leather, the missing fur around his neck and ears, the healing gash on his neck, I thought, 'who will ever adopt this cat?' The answer wasn't long in coming, 'someone who sees past Garfield's imperfections and instead, sees the love, loyalty and affection in this once-neglected cat. He laid it all out today for me to see and it was a beautiful thing. Please note that Garfield would be best as an only cat as he can be very picky about cat friends. #lcac #adoptgarfield *thanks to Gary Patty Rytlewski Patty who lovingly fostered Garfield.
